I (Phil) have been off work since early April when we left to get Micah. Unfortunately, I go back to work next week. The twelve weeks off of work definitely helped with Micah's transition and the ever important attachment process. Jonah's transition into our home was so smooth that it left us with unrealistic expectations for Micah's homecoming and assimilation. I have cherished the time I had with the boys, but as you can see by the infrequent blog posts, I've been busy. In addition to having the opportunity to spend every day with the boys, I gained even more of an appreciation for Lucia. It wasn't until I was responsible for running the house that I realized how much effort it takes. We've been married for over 9 years, and I only just recently learned that the workload around the house isn't shared equitably. So while the time with Micah was necessary, and being with Jonah was great, my hiatus from work has also increased my appreciation for Lucia. Not only for what she does (seemingly effortlessly), but for who she is.
